I am a natural light on location photographer. I shoot mostly with the light that mother nature provides. I’m not always after the perfect pose with everyone smiling and looking at the camera. I like organic but guided posing.

We will decide on the best location for your photos, together. I have many locations that I love to shoot at but I am always open to new locations as well. We can choose a location that reflects your style and personality. Please let me know of any mobility limitations so we can discuss appropriate locations.

Depending on your needs, we can plan for a half hour to start with and extend to an hour if needed. My portrait sessions rarely last more than an hour. Don’t worry, I can easily get a diverse and adequate gallery in that time.

I strive to make it fun! With young kids, we can play games and run off some energy and take breaks as needed. As a family group I’ll ask you to simply “be” together and sometimes there will be tickles or silly questions to get everyone laughing. You’ll hear me say “don’t look at me” or “look at each other” often.

Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident! For families, I recommend coordinating rather than matching. Check Pinterest for inspiration! I’m happy to consult on wardrobe choices if you are unsure. I usually tell clients to stay away from bright red or fluorescent colors because it can cast unnatural tones onto your skin which is not very flattering. Steer clear of distracting graphics and clothing that doesn't fit properly. And always think about the accessories!

Yes! You will get a custom gallery where you can download high resolution images for printing with a print release and low resolution for sharing on social media.

You can print from your favorite image processing company and you can share your images on social media. As an artist, I own the copyright to all images, I simply ask that you tag me in your social media posts to give me credit. This also helps me grow my business. You CANNOT edit your images after I deliver them to you, this includes social media filters and any other form of modification. To do so would violate copyright law.

We can shoot either in the morning or in the evening. The light is usually harsh mid day and can create hard shadows that aren’t always flattering in your images. I suggest shooting about an hour and a half before the sun sets to get that gorgeous light and atmosphere. The images in my portfolio look they way they do largely because of the time of day and my use of light. This has a huge impact on your images! Many families plan a late nap for younger kids or have some down time prior to their evening session.

I do not typically use props during my sessions, however if you have something in mind please let me know. If we are doing a high school senior session, I do allow personal items that showcase who you are! For example, if you play an instrument or a sport we may want to consider including relevant items.

Please plan to arrive on time and be ready to start on time: Remember your session is scheduled according to light. It is important to start on time because light changes throughout the day and can disappear quickly in the evening. Plan for traffic or parking issues. It is best to arrive early. If you are late, you forfeit the time lost and your session will still end as planned.

Kids don’t usually want to be told what to do, how to pose or to smile. I try to give the children time to relax so I can capture their natural self. Don’t worry if your kid is running around and being active. I like to capture their energy! With young children, I like to play games and use active posing to get candid smiles.

With family grouping, I like to ask the family just to “be” together. Parents can hold young children at times and we just go with the flow. You will often hear me ask you not to look at me, but rather look at each other or look past me or to the side.

To get the most out of your session, make sure that your kids are rested, fed, and hydrated. We can take breaks as needed, but I will still shoot during breaks. Bring dry, not messy snacks so faces and hands stay clean during the session. It is also wise to have your kids use the bathroom before the session.

Prepare your children for our session by letting them know that a friend will be taking some pictures of them. It’s best not to surprise them. If you have a child that likes to see the photos, I am happy to show them the back of my camera.

Please provide information about your children. It helps me connect with them if I know what they are interested in. If I can get a shy kid talking about what they love, they will relax in front of the camera.
